The need for good communication, consultation and community involvement, has been regarded as crucial for the success of the Regeneration Programme.
In addition to this website there are a numbers of ways the Castlefields Partnership communicates with partners and the local community. You can also find out more about consultation and community involvement.
May 2010 - Local Centre Demolition
The demolition of the former Castlefields Local Centre has now commenced.
The removal of the bridge section of the centre (over the busway) is scheduled to take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend commencing on Friday the 28th May. These works have been scheduled to take advantage of the Bank Holiday weekend and minimise disruption around the Centre.
A shuttle bus will be in operation over the weekend and will operate between the temporary bus stops and Halton Lea North and South bus stops, this service will run every 15 minutes.

- Ticket Options
- Alternative ways to travel e.g. cycle routes
The Post Office, Martin McColls Store and Causeway Racing have already moved to a temporary location at 73 & 74 Shepherds Row, by Castlefields Avenue North. These shops will stay in Shepherds Row until the shops in the new Village Square are completed. Boots the Chemist has also moved out of the local centre to the existing health centre and will stay there until the new health centre is completed. The existing Castlefields Community Centre will operate as usual until the new Community Centre is opened.
Residents are encouraged to support their local shops and facilities at this time. The new Village Square development is due to be completed in 2011.

January 2010 - Community Information Event
2010 will see the demolition of the existing local centre and the construction of the new Village Square. As building work progresses, there will be some short-term, temporary changes that could affect you during construction period. This event is your opportunity to find out more and meet the people involved in the Village Square development. The information event is being held at Castlefields Community Centre on Friday, 29 January from 3pm til 7pm.
On the 16th September 2009 the Castlefields Regeneration Team gave a report and presentation to Halton Borough Councils Urban Renewal Policy and Performance Board.

The Castlefields Regeneration Partnership consists of a diverse group of organisations, with the common goal of working with local people to make Castlefields a better place in which to live. Partnership Perspective provides the opportunity for individuals from these organisations to reflect (from time to time) on his or her work and the on-going transformation of the neighbourhood.

In our first weblog, Paul reflects on working on the regeneration of Castlefields since 2001. He discusses the challenges and rewards of working within a regeneration area, including designing the redvelopment of deck access housing blocks and creating eco-friendly living.
March 2010 Weblog, Derek Sutton, Operational Director - Major Projects, Halton Borough Council
After over 25 years at Halton Borough Council, Derek Sutton, Operational Director for the Major Projects Department retired at the end of March 2010. On his final day in the office, Derek took time to reflect on over a decade of involvement in the regeneration of Castlefields and looks to the future.
The Castlefields Regeneration Newsletter, produced by the Partnership, is distributed to residents within Castlefields at key points in the regeneration of the area. The aim of the newsletter is to provide the community with an update of the latest developments in the Castlefields Regeneration Programme.
