A Masterplan for Castlefields

In consultation with the local community a Masterplan for Castlefields was published in 2003. The Castlefields Masterplan and Action Plan provide a blueprint for the regeneration of the area.

The Masterplan identifies five specific roles for the Castlefields Regeneration Partnership:

  1. Guardian of the overall regeneration vision for Castlefields;
  2. Champion the renaissance of Castlefields;
  3. Co-ordination of existing projects and finance;
  4. Facilitating, co-ordinating and procuring physical and social programmes; and
  5. Ensuring long-term stewardship and management of Castlefields.

In April 2005, to support the ongoing regeneration of the area, Castlefields was designated as a regeneration action area within the Halton Unitary Development Plan. This designation provides a flexible planning framework to facilitate the physical and environmental improvement of the area.

In September 2005, Halton Council adopted a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) to guide future development within the Castlefields and Norton Priory Action Area.

The Castlefields Masterplan is being delivered through a programme of over 50 individual projects to improve the physical, environmental, social and economic well being of the area. Find out more about Castlefields Regeneration projects.
