Following public consultation the Council has adopted a Supplementary Planning Document for the Castlefields and Norton Priory on 26 July 2005.

The area is designated as an ‘action area’ in the Halton Unitary Development Plan. The Castlefields and Norton Priory plan supplements the planning policy for this Action Area by adding more detail for development control purposes and is therefore known as a ‘Supplementary Planning Document ’ (SPD).

Castlefields Masterplan (6.4mb)

The purpose of this Design Palette is to provide supplementary guidance in relation to the specification of hard and soft landscaping materials (including lighting, play provision and landmark sculptures/features) for Castlefield's public realm.

It is hoped that the development of a rationalised and unified approach to the selection of materials and design detailing across the site will assist in the regeneration of a cohesive, legible, high quality environment throughout, that has a distinct sense of place.
